Some of you may remember this old farmhouse on the outskirts of Broxton that I photographed a few years ago. It originally featured a mural (seen below) done by owner Linda Christian. She really enjoyed doing it and was happy that it brought lots of joy to passersby on US441. It’s presently being spruced up, with a new face, by Dylan Ross. Dylan is a native of Coffee County whose extraordinary talent has garnered him scores of impressive clients and fans ranging from Aaron Murray and Luke Bryan to Lennox Lewis and Dennis Rodman. I made this photograph in 2008 and Smith’s Grocery hasn’t changed much since then. It’s a local landmark and a great independent business.

This is a popular gathering place in Broxton. A young lady from the neighborhood stopped by while I was photographing and noted that “Mr. Possum”, who lives adjacent to the property, keeps things clean around the tree.

This is an old garage/filling station.

Ocmulgee Street was once Broxton’s main commercial area. The Western Auto store was located in the second building from left (above).

Lott’s True Value Hardware, Broxton
This was most recently home to Lott’s True Value Hardware. I imagine it was a hardware or department store prior o that.
